What an elderly caretaker does
The care plan is set by the family, and sometimes by the doctor’s written instructions. Typical duties:
- Help with bathing, dressing, toilet and grooming
- Support while walking, getting up and moving around the house
- Giving medicines at the right time and noting anything unusual
- Preparing soft or special meals and helping with eating
- Talking, reading, sitting with them so they are not alone
- Night attention for bedridden patients in live-in roles
