Sometimes I am not just the founder or the person taking business decisions. I suddenly become the listener, mediator, counsellor and problem-solver.

How a caregiving crisis at home led Priyanka Rastogi to build EzyHelpers

After struggling to find dependable help for her mother-in-law, Priyanka Rastogi saw an opportunity to address a larger gap in home care.

What the story covers

YourStory's HerStory sat down with EzyHelpers co-founder Priyanka Rastogi to trace the company back to the problem that started it. In 2014, her mother-in-law had a stroke. The family moved to Bengaluru, and Priyanka went looking for caregiving support she could rely on. What she found instead was churn — helpers who came for a day or two and then stopped showing up.

Her response was to fix the supply side rather than keep hunting. She became an NSDC-certified master trainer for domestic work in Karnataka and started training caregivers herself. When those first trainees asked her to help them find work, the placement business followed. She launched EzyHelpers in 2020 with co-founder Arun Mahendran, beginning with two trained helpers.

Five years on, the piece reports 11,000 registered helpers, more than 2,000 trained and placed — 90% of them women — and over 1,000 families served across 400+ residential societies. The permanent team has grown from the two co-founders to 25 salaried employees, 75% of them women. It also covers Nest, our hostel for migrant helpers during onboarding, and the verification stack behind every placement: Aadhaar verification, e-KYC, home visits and third-party police checks.

The article records the rule we have kept since day one, and the one we would most want a family to read: the helper is never charged a rupee. Families pay EzyHelpers a fee. We take no cut of a helper’s salary.

For journalists

Company boilerplate you are welcome to quote or adapt.

EzyHelpers is an Indian home-help company that trains, verifies and places domestic helpers with families. Founded in 2020 by Priyanka Rastogi and Arun Mahendran, it offers live-in, full-time, part-time and on-demand help across housekeeping, cooking, childcare, elder and patient care, driving and home maintenance. Every helper is background-verified through Aadhaar verification, e-KYC, home visits and third-party police checks. Helpers are never charged a placement fee and EzyHelpers takes no share of a helper’s salary — the family pays the company directly. EzyHelpers operates in Bengaluru and Bareilly and runs Nest, a hostel that houses migrant helpers during onboarding.
