Everything you need to know

The complete guide to wheelchair rental.

Types & models available

From everyday mobility to specialised needs, we have the right wheelchair for the patient.

  • Standard folding wheelchairs for daily use
  • Commode wheelchairs for toilet assistance
  • Reclining / high-back wheelchairs for limited sitting tolerance
  • Lightweight and transit wheelchairs for easy handling

Who needs a wheelchair

A well-matched wheelchair restores independence and makes caregiving far easier.

  • Post-surgery and post-fracture recovery
  • Seniors with reduced mobility or balance
  • Stroke, paralysis and neurological conditions
  • Patients who cannot sit upright for long (reclining models)

Rent vs buy

Rent for temporary recovery; buy for ongoing or permanent mobility needs. Cost depends on the model and rental duration, ask our advisors for an estimate once you know how long the wheelchair is needed.

  • Rent for short-term post-operative recovery
  • Buy (new or certified pre-owned) for long-term use
  • Low refundable deposit on rentals
  • Free pickup when the rental ends

How it works

From enquiry to a wheelchair at your door.

    1. Enquiry

Call or fill the form and describe the patient’s condition, weight and how long the wheelchair is needed.

    2. Delivery

A technician brings the wheelchair to your home, usually the same day across the Bangalore localities we serve.

    3. Setup

The footrest and armrest are adjusted to the patient, and the family is shown how to brake, fold and manage transfers safely.

    4. Pickup

Call to arrange collection when the rental ends. We check the wheelchair and refund the deposit once it is confirmed to be in working condition.

Before you rent

What to check before choosing a wheelchair.

The right model depends on the patient’s condition, not just their mobility level.

  • Check whether the patient needs to use the toilet without a full transfer, a commode wheelchair solves this directly
  • Confirm whether the patient can sit upright for long periods, a reclining or high-back model suits those who cannot
  • Measure doorways and hallway width at home if the wheelchair needs to move through tight spaces daily
  • Check the patient’s weight against the wheelchair’s rated capacity before booking
  • Ask who will be pushing the wheelchair day to day, a lightweight transit model is easier for a smaller caregiver to manage

Using it safely at home

Most wheelchair falls happen during transfers.

  • Lock both brakes before every transfer in or out of the wheelchair, never leave it free-rolling near a bed or chair
  • Fold and lift the footrests out of the way before a side transfer, a locked footrest is a common cause of trips
  • Check tyre pressure and brake grip weekly, worn brakes lose their hold gradually and are easy to miss until they fail
  • Avoid inclines and thresholds without a second person present until the caregiver is confident managing them alone
  • Call our support line if the wheelchair pulls to one side or a brake feels loose, small faults are easier to fix before they cause a fall

Where a wheelchair fits

Pairs with recovery and elder-care support.

A wheelchair restores independence, but many patients also need a caregiver managing the rest of the day.

Seniors recovering from a fall or fracture usually combine a wheelchair with post-fall and mobility care, while stroke or paralysis patients often need broader elder care at home support for daily activities. If the patient is largely bed-bound and only uses the wheelchair for short periods, see our bedridden patient care page, and for other daily-living aids, visit mobility aids rental.
