Snabbit vs a Live-In Maid in Bangalore: Which One Actually Fits Your Home?
Snabbit, Pronto and Insta Help all do one thing well — someone arrives in about fifteen minutes, cleans for an hour, and leaves. If your sink is full and guests are due at eight, that is exactly the right tool. None of them can watch your toddler while you take a call, or help your father to the bathroom at 2am. That is not a criticism. It is a different job, and this page is about telling the two apart.

Quick answer
So which one should you pick?
If your household needs fewer than about 12 hours of help a week and the work is task-shaped — dishes, a bathroom, a floor — an hourly app is cheaper and faster than anything a placement agency can offer. Use it. If you need someone present rather than someone dispatched — a young child, a bedridden parent, cooking three times a day, a house that keeps running while you are at work — hourly booking will cost you more and work less well.
We place maids. Here is our bias, stated up front.
EzyHelpers is a placement agency. We earn when a family hires a live-in or full-time helper, and we earn nothing when someone books an hourly app. You should read everything below knowing that. We have tried to be accurate about what the apps do well, because most people who land on this page have already used one and are asking a fair question: is this enough, or do I need someone permanent? Getting that answer wrong costs you either money or months, so it is worth answering honestly rather than persuasively.
Hourly apps vs a live-in maid vs a full-time maid
Three different products that all get called 'maid service'. The differences that matter are continuity, what work is allowed, and how you pay.
| Hourly appsSnabbit, Pronto, Insta Help, Urban Company | Live-in maidPlaced | Full-time maidPlaced | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How fast you get help | Usually within the hour | 3–7 days to place properly | 3–7 days to place properly |
| Who actually arrives | Whoever is free nearby, usually a different person each booking | The same person every day, living in your home | The same person every day, goes home at night |
| Typical duration | 1–2 hours per booking | Present in the home, with fixed duty and rest hours | 8–10 hours a day |
| Best suited to | Cleaning, dishes, a deep clean, guests arriving tonight | Cooking, cleaning and childcare or elder care together | Cooking and cleaning while you are out at work |
| Daily cooking | Basic, booked per visit | Yes, and she learns how your household eats | Yes |
| Childcare or elder care | Not offered | Yes, including nights | Daytime only |
| How you pay | Per hour, per booking | Monthly salary plus a one-time placement fee | Monthly salary plus a one-time placement fee |
| Indicative cost in Bangalore | Hourly rate published in the app | ₹22,000 – ₹45,000 per month | From about ₹15,000 per month |
| Verification | Done once by the platform at onboarding | Aadhaar and police verification, reference checks, permanent address on file | Aadhaar and police verification, reference checks, permanent address on file |
| If it does not work out | Book someone else next time | Free replacement | Free replacement |
| Continuity | Not part of the product | The whole point of it | The whole point of it |
Hourly rates are set by each app and change from time to time, so we have not printed a rival's price here — check it in their app on the day you compare. Our own figures are the ranges we actually place at in Bangalore.
Where the cost actually crosses over
The mistake is comparing a per-hour price with a per-month price and stopping there.
Work it through with your own numbers. Take the hourly rate in whichever app you use — call it ₹180 an hour for the sake of an example — and assume two hours a day, six days a week. That is about ₹4,300 a week, or roughly ₹18,600 a month, for 48 hours of work, all of it cleaning.
A live-in maid in Bangalore costs ₹22,000 to ₹45,000 a month. At the lower end of that range you get someone present across the day who cooks, cleans, and is in the house when your child gets home from school.
So the crossover is not really about money. Somewhere around 45 to 50 hours a month the two land in the same range, and beyond that the placed helper is cheaper per hour of work covered. The genuine difference is what you are allowed to ask for. You cannot ask an hourly booking to keep an eye on your mother while you are at the office. It is not in the product, and no amount of paying more will put it there.
Change the assumptions and the crossover moves — that example uses ₹180 an hour and six days a week. The point is that a crossover exists, and it arrives sooner than most families expect.
Four things the hourly apps do better than we do
We are not going to pretend otherwise, and if one of these describes your household you should stop reading and go book one.
Speed
We take three to seven days to place someone, because verification and matching genuinely take that long. An app takes fifteen minutes. If the need is today, use the app.
No commitment
No placement fee, no notice period, no salary conversation. You book, they come, it is finished.
Small, irregular needs
If you need help twice a month, a placement makes no sense, and we will say so on the phone rather than sell you one.
Working out what you need
Plenty of families use an app for a month, learn their real hours, then hire permanently. That is a sensible order to do it in.
Four things hourly booking is not built to solve
None of these are failures of the apps. They are simply outside what a per-booking model can offer.
A different person each time
Every booking restarts the explaining — where things live, which cupboard, how you like the dal. Households with a routine feel this within a fortnight.
Nobody is responsible for the house
Tasks get done and the house is still yours to run. There is a difference between someone who cleans the kitchen and someone who notices the gas cylinder is low.
Care work is not on the menu
Children and elderly parents need continuity and trust. Neither is available by the hour from a rotating pool, and no app claims otherwise.
Nights and early mornings
On-demand supply sits in a daytime window. The 5am tiffin and the 2am help to the bathroom are not problems an app is built to solve.
What we would tell you if you rang us
Five households, five different answers. Two of them are 'use the app'.
Working couple, no children, 2BHK
An hourly app, twice a week. Genuinely — a placement would be more helper than you need. Call us when the household grows.
Family with a child under five
Live-in or full-time. The reason is not the cleaning, it is the hours nobody else covers.
Elderly parent at home
Live-in, and ask specifically for elder-care experience rather than housekeeping experience. They are different skills, and the wrong match usually fails in week three.
Large home, both partners travelling
Live-in, and consider a domestic couple if there is an outdoor, driving or security element as well.
New to Bangalore and unsure
Use an app for a month. Work out your real hours. Then decide, with numbers instead of guesses.
What 'verified' actually means in each model
Both models use the word. They do not mean the same thing by it, and the difference is worth knowing before you decide.
On an hourly platform, verification happens once, at onboarding, and is done by the platform. You do not meet the person before they arrive, and you generally cannot request the same helper again. For a one-hour cleaning visit that is a reasonable trade — the exposure is short and supervised.
For a placed helper, EzyHelpers runs Aadhaar verification and police verification, checks references with previous households, and keeps the helper's permanent home address on file. You interview shortlisted candidates on a video call before anyone joins your household, and if the match does not work out the replacement is free.
Neither model is a guarantee against everything, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. The real difference is whether you chose the person, and what recourse you have if something goes wrong.

Snabbit, hourly apps and live-in maids, FAQs
The questions families actually ask us when they call after using an app.
Is Snabbit available in Bangalore?
Yes. Snabbit operates in Bangalore alongside Pronto, Insta Help and Urban Company, all offering hourly, on-demand household help. If you want someone within the hour for a cleaning task, those are the right tools for it. EzyHelpers does something different — we place live-in and full-time helpers who work with one family rather than dispatching a helper per booking.
What is a good alternative to Snabbit in Bangalore?
It depends what you are replacing. For hourly cleaning, the alternatives are the other on-demand apps such as Pronto, Insta Help and Urban Company. If what you actually want is the same person every day rather than a faster booking, that is not an app problem at all — it is a placement. EzyHelpers places live-in and full-time maids across Bangalore, and also offers verified same-day help if speed is the priority.
Is a live-in maid cheaper than booking hourly help?
Past roughly 45 to 50 hours of help a month, a placed helper generally works out cheaper per hour of work covered. Below that, hourly booking is cheaper. A live-in maid in Bangalore costs ₹22,000 to ₹45,000 a month plus a one-time placement fee, and covers cooking and care as well as cleaning, so the comparison depends on how many hours you genuinely need and how much of the work is not cleaning.
Can I try hourly help first and hire someone permanently later?
Yes, and it is a sensible sequence. A month of hourly bookings tells you your real hours and what you actually want done, which makes the placement conversation far more accurate. Many of the families we place have done exactly that.
Do apps like Snabbit provide live-in maids?
No. Those platforms are built around short on-demand bookings, typically one to two hours. Live-in placement is a different service involving matching, verification, accommodation arrangements and an ongoing salary relationship rather than a booking.
What happens if the maid you place does not work out?
You get a free replacement. That is the main structural difference from booking hourly: with an app you simply book someone else next time, whereas with a placement the agency carries the obligation to make the match work.
Which is safer, an app helper or a placed maid?
Both models verify, but they verify differently and give you different recourse. On an hourly platform, verification is done once by the platform at onboarding, and you generally meet the helper for the first time when they arrive. For a placed helper, EzyHelpers runs Aadhaar verification, police verification and reference checks with previous households, keeps a permanent home address on file, and you interview shortlisted candidates on a video call before anyone joins. Neither model is a guarantee against everything — the difference is whether you chose the person and what recourse you have afterwards.
